DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, Sangamo marked "Extra," 21J, 16S, gold-filled HC recase, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, bright spotted pattern nickel damascene, s#1667984. An extremely rare watch, the total production of this particular "Extra" marked Sangamo variant is believed to be only 50 made or less. Illinois made several varieties of open face and hunting case Sangamo with "Extra" marking, and the style as seen with this example having "Extra" marking to the barrel bridge below an "Adjusted 6 Positions" marking is the earliest of the "Extra" marking types. This particular example offered here is pictured in Bill Meggers and Roy Ehrhardt's Illinois book on page 129 alongside several other variants of the "Extra" and "Special" marked Sangamo grade movements.
